Head of Department - candidate of medical sciences Oleichik Igor Valentinovich.

In 1998 I.V. Oleichik upheld his PhD's thesis “Depressions of the youth with the “juvenile asthenic disability”. His scientific interests involve: psychopathology, the clinical picture, pathogenesis and treatment of affective disorders in youths (depressive, bipolar disorders), specific features of their early diagnosis and prognosis, modern Internet-technologies. He is an author of more than 110 scientific publications in the field of clinical psychopharmacology, clinical picture and pathogenesis of affective disorders of the younger age. He took part in a number of international multicenter programs on psychopharmacology, as well as in the development and maintenance of such psychiatric internet-resources as www.psychiatry.ru, www.mentalhealth.ru, www.schizophrenia.ru.

The Department was formed in 2003 on the basis of the former Department of international scientific relationships with groups of international research programs and planning of international collaboration, which had existed since 1982, and the Department of development of research on mental health, that had been organized in1985.

The Department is staffed with 13 research fellows.

The web-portal of the RCMH RAMS (www.psychiatry.ru), developed by the Department, has several thousand web-pages, most of which contain publications of the Centre's employees on various topics, abstracts and full texts of PhD's and doctoral thesis that were upheld in the MHRC during the last years, and some classical works in psychiatry. Informational policy of the sites is aimed not only at adequate description of the Centre's activities in the Internet media, but also at formation of public views on domestic and foreign psychiatry as a whole.

The structure of the Department includes 3 groups: Internet-group (head - candidate of medical sciences I.V. Oleichik), group of co-ordination of research activities (head - I.N. Pishchik); patent-licence group (head - I.M. Berzina)

Scope of research activities of the Department:

1. Summarization of plans and reports on various themes, compiled on the results of activities of scientific institutions of Russia.

2. Compiling analytical reviews on selected areas of science in the field of theoretical and clinical psychiatry, as well as on related fundamental sciences.

3. Development and implementation of modern internet-technologies into the activities of research divisions of the MHRC RAMS.
